Project: SAFER RAVE
2024

What makes Raves safer? Besides legal and organizational matters, safety concerns like medical care, violence prevention, and discrimination must be addressed. How can organizersfully prepare to ensure a safe, in- clusive environment for all?

Situation Book

This Situation Book is designed for use during the rave itself. It focuses on immediate, practical solutions for emergencies and common challenges that can arise throughout the night. Its aim is to provide organizers with quick guidance when fast decisions are crucial.

Each situation is explained in simple language and supported by clear graphics, ensuring that information is accessible even in stressful or chaotic moments. The double-page spreads are structured for rapid orientation, helping teams assess situations at a glance and respond without delay.
With step-by-step instructions tailored for real-life application, this book is a hands-on tool meant to support awareness teams and organizers on the ground. In the fast-paced environment of a rave, there’s often no time for lengthy explanations — which is why this book prioritizes clarity, speed, and action.

By equipping event staff with this resource, the Situation Book contributes to creating a safer, more responsive rave environment — one where help is at hand when it’s most needed.

Awareness Book

This handbook informs event organizers about the background of rave culture, best practices for organizing events, and how to build an awareness team to ensure greater safety at raves. It is aimed both at people organizing an event for the first time and at those who already have experience in the field and wish to deepen their knowledge.

Educating organizers about the roots of rave culture is intended to foster a connection with its original inclusive values, which for many represent a foundation for creating safer spaces. Strengthening rave culture can contribute to preserving alternative music scenes, which are increasingly threatened by the disappearance of independent venues due to the commercialization of club culture and the gentrification of inner cities.
To create a safe space for both attendees and organizers, the second part of this book introduces the basics of awareness work. These are meant to encourage organizers to develop their own concepts tailored to their resources, goals, and the scale of their events.

Poster

This poster collection is ready to print, easy to customize, and designed to do more than just decorate walls. It promotes the RAVE and Awareness handbook, the Situation Book, and the accompanying Material Collection — while also working as bold visual support for your event communication.

The posters are built to function in multiple ways: they raise awareness, spark curiosity, and communicate key values like respect, safety, and inclusivity. At the same time, their strong visual language makes them suitable for promoting your rave, whether online or in physical spaces.
Each design can be adapted with your event’s name, location, and date. Whether you use them to invite, inform, or inspire — this collection helps connect your audience with the core idea behind the project: that raving and caring go hand in hand.

Material Collection

In addition to the two handbooks — RAVE and Awareness and the Situation Book — we’ve created a Material Collection. It offers ready-to-use resources to support the planning and execution of raves.

This collection includes posters, signs, and design templates that can be directly applied to your event. Clear messaging such as “No Photos” or “Respect Boundaries” helps reinforce awareness values on-site. The templates are customizable, making it easy to adapt visuals and guidance systems to the specific needs and style of your rave.
By providing visual tools that communicate key principles, the Material Collection supports organizers in creating safer, more conscious event environments — from setup to last track.
